SWELL Fringe – Beckah Amani

Beckah Amani takes song writing to a new place, a place of fearless embodiment of emotions presented through utterly vulnerable and intensely profound lyrics. Her brand of honesty is rooted in her disarming vocals, expressing reflections of our world and ourselves through a candid lens intricately digging deeper into meaningful and relevant naratives. She weaves the best parts of soul, folk and pop inspired by a nuanced blend of artists from Adele to Al Green, Ed Sheeran to Nina Simone and Rihanna.

2020 saw Beckah release the thought-provoking track STANDARDS. STANDARDS caught the attention of many including superstar Tones and I who went on to place STANDARDS in her  Instagram-based competition That One Song. Moreover, Double J titled STANDARDS as “one of the best tracks added to Double J” rotation and Triple J’s Declan Byrne stated that Beckah’s “voice needs to be heard by millions”. Accumulating high praises on Triple J Unearthed, STANDARDS was added to triple J’s rotation, it picked number 77 on Triple J Unearthed charts and number 13 on UK’s Indie Top charts. Additionally, MTV added STANDARDS on its upload rotation in January  2021. 2020 also saw Beckah releasing stripped back soul\pop track Stranger. Stranger gained summer rotation on Triple J Unearthed, 4zzz Radio, Double J and was the 17th most played song on 4zzz Radio in November and December.

Continuing the momentum of 2020, 2021 saw Beckah Amani take home two Queensland Music Awards (Best emerging artist and the Billy Thorpe Scholarship) and open for international superstar  Tones and I in the span of one week. To date, Beckah has opened for Busby Marou, Sahara Beck and headlined shows at Mo’s Desert Club House and Burleigh BBQ Bazaar.
